Tobias Funke says it himself: Arrested Development movie “not going to happen”.
Could it be true?
Copied below are some good bits, read the full interview with David Cross at TV Squad.
TV Squad: How many times have you had to answer questions about the reunion movie at this point, by the way? Including today?
David Cross: Um, I would guess like somewhere between six and seven hundred times.
Is there anything going on with that at this point?
I think what I will tell you, it’s not going to happen. It’s not official, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen. Way too much time it’s been (since the show ended). I mean, there’s so many people involved. Everyone’s doing their own thing, you know. And everybody’s aged. It’s just not going to happen. I’m sure I speak for everybody when I say we’d love for it to happen, we’d love to work on it, but just I don’t think… not going to happen.

Jason Bateman was on the Daily Show the other night. He claimed the script was roughly 50% finished and that they were on track to film it next year.

I think 50% complete, in Hollywood parlance, means “writers will finish it when savings run out and residuals can’t pay the bills”.
Bateman is just riding the AD wave for all it’s worth. I gotta go more with David Cross and err on the side that it’s never gonna happen, but here is to hoping.

Yeah, I think that’s still the case…but here’s to hoping otherwise.
